Activating an operator

Apply → review → electronic agreement → payments activate. The full path to accepting live payments.

To accept payments, you activate one of the operators enabled for your account. The flow has four steps:

Activation happens entirely in the dashboard — no code required. Once an operator is active and switched on for your project, nothing changes on the API side: PaymentIntents created without allowed_operators can use it automatically.

1. Apply

Pick an operator under Connectors in the dashboard and fill in the step-by-step application:

  • Registration type — individual or company.
  • Core details — name, registration number, business activity. Individuals can fill these in one tap from their verified citizen identity (DAN).
  • Address & contact — location, phone, email. Your account email and verified phone are one tap away too.
  • Settlement account — pick one of your linked bank accounts, or link a new one right in this step.

Review everything on the final step before submitting.

2. Review

The Wire team reviews applications during business hours. You are notified of the decision by email, and the connector page tracks progress as staged states (Details → Review → Active). If an application is declined you see the reason, and the form comes back pre-filled so you only fix what was flagged.

3. Conclude the electronic agreement

Once your application is approved, you conclude the operator's service agreement electronically:

  1. Open and read the full agreement as a PDF (the confirmations unlock only after you have opened it).
  2. Confirm you have read the fee schedule and the prohibited-services list.
  3. Sign with your verified citizen identity (DAN) — legally equivalent to a written signature.

The agreement's merchant section carries the details you submitted in your application; the signature block carries your verified name and registration number. You can view or download the signed PDF from the connector page at any time.

4. Payments activate

As soon as the agreement is concluded the connection activates automatically and the operator becomes available in:

  • the payment options on Hosted checkout,
  • the payment page for Payment links,
  • the API — automatic routing, and allowed_operators if you narrow it.

Each project must also switch the operator on (project → Connectors). Until it does, payments created with that project's API key cannot use the operator, and the API answers connector_required.

Pausing and resuming

Every active operator has a switch on the Connectors page. While switched off, no new payments are created through that operator (it is removed from automatic routing and the payment page); the connection and its configuration stay intact and resume instantly when switched back on.

Owner verification (phone + citizen identity) must be completed before an operator can be activated — see the Quickstart.
